Creating An Installer For Your Workbook Registration Key

For the absolute best of protection and distribution of your Excel workbook, you can compile it with registration key copy protection and then make an installer for that key. Since once you have successfully compiled your workbook to an EXE file with registration key copy protection, you must provide that key to that application’s user. Creating an installer for the key that you have generated for your compiled application is a simple way to deliver that key to your client. This process can be done easily and efficiently by using the free DoneEx Installer Maker. The following tutorial will guide you through creating a registration key as well as the installer creation process for the registration key.

Step By Step Tutorial on Creating a Workbook Registration Key Installer

1. Compile your workbook into an EXE application with DoneEx XCell Compiler, with care to the following highlighted options.

Be sure to click on the “Options” button (highlighted in green) to set your registration key location. When you click it, the following menu will appear.

As is highlighted in the image, set the “New Path” to the <?DOCUMENTS?> tag, and then click add.

2. After you have compiled your workbook, generate a registration key for the resulting EXE file. You can do this using the registration key tool.

3. Start DoneEx Installer Maker after downloading and installing it for free. Once you are on the first page, press on the add file button.

4. Fill the “Source file” field with the location of your generated registration key file. In fact, use the “Browse” button to bring up a dialog window which you can use to locate it or you can just you can type or paste the location into the field. Most notably, however, make sure that the “Destination directory” is set to “${MYDOCUMENTS}”. Be sure to add any subfolders to the “${MYDOCUMENTS}” that you have added in the compilation step to the <?DOCUMENTS?> tag in the XCell Compiler. Then, press OK.

5. Also fill out the necessary fields to continue to the next page.

6. On the second page of the Installer Maker, make sure to fill out the Main directory as “${MYDOCUMENTS}” or any of its subfolders, as well as the Installer Name and Installer Location fields.

7. Finish the generation process by clicking on the “Generate” button on the last page of Installer Maker.

Conclusion
